007: Visual Facilitation & You

What is Visual Facilitation and how might you use it in your career? Here at the Center for Visual Facilitation we offer a unique learning pathway for Facilitators, Trainers and Leaders who are ready to take their career to the next level as a Visual & Virtual Champion.

I had the wonderful privilege of speaking at the "Power of Visuals' weekathon. Here are some of the things I covered to explain the power of Visual Facilitation and how you might want to add this skill to your toolkit as your head into next year.

I started my talk by sharing some of the visual templates I use for Visual Facilitation. Visual Facilitation is a powerful tool for critical thinking, problem solving and strategic planning. 

We looked at some of the visual templates and how you can use them to add different kinds of meaning. For example this drawing of a four team members could be used for team building, identifying the strengths of different team members or this template could be used to represent your customers. 

Next we looked at the universal template of the iceberg. We identified how the iceberg could represent the visible and invisible, it could also show what is conscious and unconscious about how you and your team work.

A good template allows you to layer on the meaning. And we ended our sessions looking at templates that could be used for journey maps and action plans.

Visual Facilitation can be used for almost any industry. And I have taught Visual Thinking basics from the kindergarten classroom to the executive boardroom.

On December 4th, I will be hosting the 2021 Launch Plan Workshop where I will demonstrate how you can combine three of these templates into making an interactive workshop for you and your team for planning out our work for next year together.
