A Simple Visual Activity for Self-Care & Team Connection
In our latest community conversation, I asked a powerful question:
“What do you do when you need to recharge?”
I collected responses and turned them into a visual—because sometimes, seeing it drawn out makes it all the more meaningful. In this quick 5-minute video, I walk you through the process I used and show you how to use this same activity for yourself or with your team.
Whether you’re feeling burnt out or just need a boost, this exercise is a creative and reflective way to build your Self-Care Transformation Toolkit. 🌿
Draw a picture of yourself and a battery.
Make a list of the things that recharge you.
Add visual icons or doodles to bring your ideas to life.
This activity is perfect for personal reflection, team workshops, or even classroom settings. It’s a great reminder that we all recharge in different ways—an...
The Wheel of Life is one of the first coaching tools I learned over 16 years ago—and it’s one I continue to come back to time and time again. Why? Because it’s simple, powerful, and incredibly insightful.
Contrary to popular belief, the goal isn’t to create a perfectly balanced wheel. The true purpose is to identify areas of life where you feel out-of-balance and bring awareness to where you might need more attention, care, or focus.
If you're a coach, facilitator, or team leader working with people who feel stuck or overwhelmed, the Wheel of Life offers a meaningful way to spark conversation and self-discovery.
In this example, I used the ten life domains inspired by Michael Hyatt’s Full Focus Planner:
Intellectual
Social
Emotional
Vocational
Physical
Avocational (Hobbies/Leisure)
Marital
Financial
Spiritual
Parental

I love using visuals for coaching. The past two weeks I have opened my calendar for mini Private Coaching Sessions and the conversations have been amazing. I wanted to highlight one specifically around how to use visuals when coaching clients.
"How do you use visuals when your client is deflated?"
This was such a good question and a perfect opportunity to use visuals to facilitate a deeper conversation about how to help your clients get their good ideas off the ground. And why it is important for your client to separate themselves from their ideas.

What is Visual Facilitation and how might you use it in your career? Here at the Center for Visual Facilitation we offer a unique learning pathway for Facilitators, Trainers and Leaders who are ready to take their career to the next level as a Visual & Virtual Champion.
I had the wonderful privilege of speaking at the "Power of Visuals' weekathon. Here are some of the things I covered to explain the power of Visual Facilitation and how you might want to add this skill to your toolkit as your head into next year.
I started my talk by sharing some of the visual templates I use for Visual Facilitation. Visual Facilitation is a powerful tool for critical thinking, problem solving and strategic planning.Â
We looked at some of the visual templates and how you can use them to add different kinds of meaning. For example this drawing of a four team members could be used for team building, identifying the strengths of different team members or this template could be used to represent your cus...
Practice makes perfect. And it takes a lot of work to make something look so easy.Â
I began my career as a Graphic Facilitator for Ernst & Young in 1996 and over the years I have evolved into an Innovation Strategist partnering with others to bring ideas to life. I absolutely love working with individuals and teams applying my creative superpowers to think through processes, strategies and new products.
In this mini lesson, I want to introduce you to a mini lesson on how to use visual thinking to work through strategies yourself. It all starts with getting your ideas on paper. But how do you do that?
So many people say to me, "Whatever you do don't ask me to draw, I'm terrible."
I promise you Visual thinking is not about drawing; it's about IDEAS!!
I created a mini lesson using 6 simple icons you can use to start to unlock your creative thinking skills too. Are you ready to start getting your ideas on paper?
Whenever you are ready, there are 2 ways I can help you:

In business we often talk about transformation and as a visual thinking expert, I am always looking for metaphors that match the word. When you think about transformation it is such a huge concept and does not happen overnight. Today I want to introduce you the Iceberg Metaphor we use in the Center for Visual Facilitation. The Iceberg is a great visual metaphor you can use for transformation.  With the iceberg,  there are elements above the water that everyone can see, but there is so much more of the iceberg under the water that people can't see from the surface.
When you look at the iceberg, at the very top is your purpose which represents the impact I want to have in the world. The next layer is your dream client... who are the people you want to serve? Below that are the products & services that you offer your clients.
Then we arrive at the bottom layers, which are very important elements to running my business that no one really sees.
The first one is time management. How are...
