005: Leading from the Whiteboard
Today I want to talk about leading from the whiteboard and what does that look like in this new hybrid meeting environment. Now more than ever as a Facilitator, Leader and Trainer, it is important to lead teams regardless of where your participants are located.
As the Facilitator of an event, you are not only responsible for the agenda but also the engagement that happens both in-person and online. And you are also responsible for the outcome of the event. I want to show you how I lead events from the whiteboard even on a zoom call.
Welcome to my digital flip chart. This is an essential tool I use for facilitating groups large and small. Let's look a recent Innovation Icebreaker I did with the students inside the Center for Visual Facilitation. This is a simple activity you can do yourself.
Start by asking the participants, "What hats are you wearing?" And then as the participants share their answers popcorn style, you can write their answers on the flip chart. This is a great activity for opening up you next zoom call, meeting or online event.

When we debriefed the experience and participants said they felt like they had a share experience, they felt part of the group, they had more empathy for each other and themselves for all the hats we are all wearing.
